We were tasked with creating an unexpected space for this workplace. One special enough to draw our client into their chambers while also creating a notable experience for all who visit.
Although the space is located within the distinguished Owen Dixon building Melbourne’s CBD, the chambers weren’t representative of our clients taste, nor did they portray the intimacy with which he wanted to treat his clients and cases.
We divided the office suite to create two connected spaces with different functions; a work zone with custom walnut trimmed desk with its shape mirrored by the rug beneath, and a lounge zone centred around an elegant vintage sofa for more casual meetings with colleagues, resting or reading.
During a recent home renovation our client had dipped their toe into the world of custom fabrics and asked us to lean in on this project, layering multiple rich textiles to create a warm, bold palette and balancing the numerous masculine and feminine furniture elements throughout the space. We played with scale, form, repetition and mirroring throughout the room, resulting in a nuanced balance of pattern and colour which draws your eye to the considered detail within.
